Project Time & Cost, Inc., an Atlanta, GA based international cost and forensic engineering firm is currently seeking a Fire Explosion Consultant for the Atlanta area and other major cities.  These are  full-time, salaried positions.

Summary of Role:
At the direction of the Regional Manager and with minimal supervision, investigates various incident types (based on qualifications) which may include but not be limited to Cause and Origin of fires and explosions, SIU related investigations, insurance fraud, and other investigations contingent on the needs of our clients and business unit.

Responsibilities:
*        Receives assignment, plans type of investigation and equipment needed.
*        Interviews and takes statements from witnesses as warranted.
*        Interviews any individuals who might provide information regarding the loss, i.e, owners, building managers, maintenance supervisors, tenants, employees, security guards, residents,  
          neighbors, creditors, etc.
*        Conducts on-site investigation coordinating with local law enforcement agencies when required.
*        Collects, retains, and stores samples, evidence, and/or other artifacts associated with such investigations, pursuant to business unit policy/procedure.
*        Analyzes investigative information and reaches logical conclusion of cause and effect.
*        Provides factual and/or expert testimony at hearings and trials.
*        Prepares reports for clients.
*        Conducts business development (marketing) activities at the direction of business unit managers to develop and increase market share.
*        Upholds the company’s policies, procedures, and ethical standards at all times.
*        May participate in special projects or perform other duties as requested.

Education:
High school diploma plus law enforcement, firefighting, or other investigative training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.  Some college is preferred.

Knowledge and Skills:
Must be very analytical and detail oriented.
Strong knowledge of techniques for determining cause and origin of fires and explosions.
Good investigative skills.
Excellent communication and listening skills.
Ability to plan and organize work and to work independently.
Basic understanding of insurance coverages.
Computer skills.
Ability to operate measuring and sampling equipment.

Experience:
Previous experience as a city, county, state, or federal criminal investigator, or an insurance investigator.  Some positions may require proven experience as an expert witness for court appearances.

Decision Making/Interaction:
Regular interaction with management at client companies, with insured, witnesses and others connected with losses in question, decisions often require analysis and consideration of conflicting information.

Special Requirements/Certifications/Qualifications:
Must be bondable and eligible for licensing as a private investigator where so required, some jurisdictions require written testing for licensing.  Must be available for overnight travel and willing to work weekends and holidays.  Special training will be provided by PT&C Forensic Consulting Services.  In order to progress, training and performance requirements must be met.

Physical Requirements:
Ability to talk and hear.
Ability to see and read.
Reaching and manual dexterity for operating computer and sampling equipment.
Requires the ability to lift and carry equipment and samples weighing up to 50 lbs.; distance carried and weight will vary according to site.
Climbing ladders, balancing, stooping, kneeling crouching and crawling may be necessary during on-site investigations.
May be exposed to all kinds of weather, noise, vibration, fumes, dust and poor ventilation.
Hazardous conditions could include moving parts of machinery, electrical shock, high exposed places, explosives or toxic compounds.

Job Summery:

Determine the origin and cause of fires for insurance companies, insurance attorneys, as well as independent adjusting companies.

Starting Salary: $55,000.00 to $65,000.00 per year depending on experience.  Benefits include paid medical, life and disability insurance (No employee contribution).  401-K, dollar to dollar match to 15% of gross salary.  Mileage reimbursement at current IRS rate and a $200.00 per month car allowance.   All job related equipment provided at no expense to the employee and company credit card.

Job Summery:

Under the supervision of the Fire Safety Coordinator, participate in planning and implementing fire safety inspections. Perform training and facility inspections for compliance with state law, fire and life safety codes, university policy and procedures and standards to ensure the safety of students, faculty, staff and visitors. Report to management when non-compliance or hazardous conditions are found. Fire inspections include life safety codes, fire safety codes, building codes, facility codes, facility inspections, special function fire safety, evacuation planning and implementation, participation in emergency response planning, and fire safety training including training in the use of portable fire extinguishers.

Job Requirements:

Two or more years of specified work related experience – with university experience desired. Four years of experience is preferred. Eligible to become board certified as a Fire Inspector. Board certification as Fire Inspector preferred. Computer experience: databases, operating systems and office automation. Selection process will include a background screening. Bachelor's Degree, preferably in fire protection or related technical, scientific or engineering discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience.
